Well, we are about to get hit with our first hurricane since moving here. It doesn't look like it will be a bad one, but we're all excited (and nervous) anyway. School started today, but no school tomorrow because of the storm. A great way to start the school year, don't you think?
As for school, we went to open houses last week and met teachers, etc. They sure make us supply a lot of supplies for the classrooms! Crazy. Kalin is in a brand new high school this year--very nice and clean. Too bad they didn't build a pool with it. He also starts driver's ed this semester--aaah! He can start driving right away (with a parent) as soon as he does some online tests. This ought to be interesting.
Alex is in a new school (again) this year. He's been in a different school every year for 3 years now. Poor kid. I think he will do great this time around. As for Patrick and Sadie--same school, same bus, same classmates (sort of)--nice for the kids who hate change. They will be just fine.
I have been nervous about school starting again, mostly because I've been staying up so late every night all summer. We have to adjust to going to bed at 9 again. Especially when Kalin starts seminary again on Wednesday at 5:30 AM. It's no fun, but it's worth it. He enjoys being with the other kids and wishes he had some at his school--or that we would move him to the school most of them go to. I'll keep thinking about that one...
John is busy, busy, busy. He is supposedly staying home more often these days, but it doesn't seem like it. Last week he was in Atlanta for 5 days, and the week before was Youth Conference for 3 days. In a week or so he goes to Utah, and somewhere else after that. I guess him being gone so much makes me appreciate him more when he's home--or else he drives me crazy messing up my 'schedule' when he is here. It's a fine line... Anyway, his birthday is coming next month--the big 4-0. I want to do something special, but it's the same weekend as Stake Conference. This one is a big one--a new stake president with one of the apostles coming! John is really nervous about the whole thing. I don't blame him, but it's hard to sympathise. I should be more worried than I am since I'm in charge of the music. I'll probably freak out the closer it comes. Anyway, I'm not sure how to celebrate his birthday--early or late? Maybe I'll have a party for him a week later--we'll have to see how things pan out that week. Shhh. Don't tell him--it's a surprise (unless he reads this).
